My name is Jarret Spence. I am the pastor of The Church of Jesus Christ in Portage, IN. I was born and raised in Huntington, WV. In 1968-1970, I served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning, I moved to Chicago, IL and got a job at United States Steel Corp. I later moved to Hammond, IN where I was fortunate enough to meet my future wife, Judy. We got married in 1972. We eventually moved to Portage, IN and began attending The Church of Jesus Christ. In our 40 years of marriage, we have been blessed with two children, Jarret and Melissa. Both of our children are now married and have blessed us with several granddaughters! In 1975, I accepted my calling into the ministry under Bishop Richard Lee. Eight years later, the Lord called Bishop Lee home. After Bishop Lee passed, I took over as the pastor of The Church of Jesus Christ in Portage. I have been pastoring the church for 30 years and counting. I am very thankful for all of God’s blessings!
